ECE PRC License Renewal Procedure

To all my licensed Electronics Engineers aka Electronics and Communications Engineers (ECE) colleagues, I hope these details of information help us as a guidance in renewing our Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license as required by the law. Especially our Philippine government is now implementing the new Republic Act No. 9292, an act providing for a more responsive and comprehensive regulation for the registration, licensing and practice of professional Electronics Engineers and Electronics Technicians, repealing Republic Act No. 5734, otherwise known as “Electronics and Communications Engineering Act of the Philippines” and for other purposes.

IECEP requirements (in order to secure the Certificate of Good Standing from IECEP):

Hi ney! As far as i know, yeah. 45 cpe points must be gained for you to renew your prc license plus a penalty of non renewal on the past years. Unless otherwise you’re in abroad, you’re definitely excused. Hope this helps. thanks. 🙂

    Good day Sir!

I want to renew my PRC license which expired on Feb.2012. After my electronics engineer license expired back then, I somehow lost interest in renewing it because of these CPE points that we should accumulate and because my line of work is not related to our profession.
However, I recently had a career change which is now connected to our profession. This time, I want to renew my license because I need to have a valid Electronics Engineer license for work-related transactions.
    My questions are:
    1. Can I attend the IECEP trainings/seminars even if my license is way past expired?
    2. Should I renew first my IECEP membership before attending any IECEP seminars/trainings?
    3. For how long these CPE points good for consideration by IECEP? Example, i have attended company-sponsored training related to electronics which was 4 years ago, can I include it for the computation of CPE points?

Thank you so much in advance. I am really glad you have this blog. It is indeed very helpful and informative.

hi Marven, kindly see answers below.
      1. Yes, anyone from ECE can attend IECEP seminars and trainings even your license is expired. And it will be converted into a certain points upon renewal.
      2. You may do either way, but I do suggest you have to secure CPE points first through attending seminars/trainings to comply license renewal requirements.
      3. Seminars and trainings for CPE points must be accomplished within 3-year period, as released order by IECEP. (i.e. 2012-2015 for the present year)

    Hi po.
Last time that I renewed my PRC license, way back it was 60 cpe points. I already had approval to IECEP and gained more than 60 cpe points. Though, required on that time is 60 cpe points. My question is, can I still avail the excess of my CPE points on that time to add in renewing my license for this year period?
Last time i got 76 CPE points and they credited the 60 cpe. Can I still get 16 cpe points?
